The structure has already been opened to the public. The observation tower is constructed of larch wood. It has 11 floors, and a step-free path leads to the top. Thanks to gentle ramps, the viewing platform is also accessible for people with disabilities and those with strollers.
The construction of an observation tower was first discussed by local authorities in 2021. At that time, a design created by the architectural firm HAMER was presented. Due to rising building material costs, the design was subsequently modified.
The observation tower in Wolin was built from 250 cubic meters of wood. It has an unusual shape, intended to resemble a sailboat. This is particularly evident in the lower level, which is shaped like a hull, as well as in the supports and connectors, whose shape imitates sails.
The observation tower can be used by a maximum of 50 people at a time. At the entrance, there is a gate that counts visitors and closes automatically when the maximum number of visitors is exceeded.
The attraction is free to use. It is currently open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but opening hours are extended in the summer to better suit the season and to allow visitors to admire sunsets, for example.
The tower's construction is part of a larger project to revitalize the green space on Parkowa Street. As part of the project, residents will gain a small amphitheater, a restored statue of Trygawa, a playground, and small-scale architectural elements.
